you hear “comparison is the thief of joy”
and yet, we still let ourselves compare
our joy seems to be somewhat dispensable
with not a care in the world
we willingly sacrifice our joy to others
with every scroll, every like
we let them take it
unaware we are
because the transaction is so small
they slip by without notice
until it compounds into more
here’s your reminder
to take back your joy
you don’t realize it’s priceless
until you’ve bought everything
and nothing brings you joy
